Tracy Jacob began his art career as a stone sculptor. In 1980 he decided to give glass blowing a try while studying at Pratt Fine Arts in Seattle, Washington. Tracy then began working in a production glassblowing shop called "The Glass Eye". Being located in Seattle afforded Tracy a wide exposure to the beginnings of the glass art movement. He was able to work with some of the world's greatest glass blowers of our time: Leno Tagliapietra, Dale Chihuly, Ben Moore, Rich Royal, Dante Marioni and his Father Paul Marioni, and many, many more.
Denise Jacob began her glass blowing career in the early 1980's as well. Changing from being a stained-glass artist to hot glass, she tackled her beginning classes in Estes Park, Colorado. After completion of her courses, Denise moved to Salem, Oregon where she started her own hot shop in the garage of a modest home. After a brief stay in Oregon, wanting to be closer to the hot glass art movement, Denise moved to Puallup, Washington where she again built her garage studio. Attending the fairs in the area took Denise to Seattle on weekends to learn more about her art. Being able to work with some of the gaffers in the area was a great break for her.
Denise and Tracy met during some of the glass-blowing sessions and fell in love. They decided to combine their styles and form a single hot shop. From there they moved to the Hawaiian Islands and set up shop on the North Shore of Oahu. They have made this their home and have been blowing glass in Haleiwa for 20 years.
Recently, Denise lost both her parents. In tribute to their memory she will be bringing a new style dedicated to her Native American heritage. Look for her new Native American inspired pieces, they'll be appearing on this website soon!
Of course, Denise and Tracy will continue with their unique "Island" inspired style as well.
